Paul Barnes' (born 1971) work is truly magical - he expertly weaves together nature, animals, and the folklore of his native northeast Scotland with his own tribal imaginings. The muted colors and ancient-feeling paint surface of his work, achieved through exquisite attention to detail, give his pieces a tender, allegorical, and enduring quality. Barnes studied at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, where he received his BA in Design. He has exhibited widely in the UK and USA.
